On December 15th, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) organized a thematic debate to discuss the key findings of the Europe Sustainable Development Report 2020, released just a week before the event.

The debate aimed to discuss the major findings of the ESDR 2020 and analyze the relevant policy implications for Europe. Major topics discussed include strengthening and simplifying the EU narrative on the SDGs and prioritizing the European Green Deal. The post-COVID response and economic recovery were also discussed thoroughly. SDSN Senior Economist Guillaume Lafortune represented the organization at the debate.

The Europe Sustainable Development Report 2020 is a dedicated report tracking performance of the European Union member states and partner countries on the SDGs. The report highlights that Europe faced major challenges ahead, particularly in its commitment to sustainable agriculture and climate action.
